Dhaka, Aug 15 (UNB) – Dhaka University (DU) on Wednesday observed the National Mourning Day through various programmes, marking the 43th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
DU teachers, officers and employees, led by Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, paid tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road-32.
A discussion was arranged at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the occasion.
Speaking at the discussion, the DU Vice-chancellor said Mujib is now much stronger as his ideology is being followed by people of all ages.
DU Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Mohammad Samad, Treasurer Prof M Kamal Uddin and Dhaka University Teachers’ Association President Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, among others, attended the function.
DU Journalists’ Association (Duja) organised a photo exhibition titled ‘Bangaleer Bangabandhu’ featuring 148 rare photographs of the Father of the Nation and the Liberation War at the TSC.
