National Mourning Day observed at IU

Islamic University, Aug 15 (UNB) – Islamic University observed the National Mourning Day on the university campus in Kushtia on Wednesday with due respect and solemnity, marking the 43 martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Marking the day, IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag at half-mast while IU Pro-VC Prof M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the black flag in front of the university administration building around 9:30am.

Later, a mourning rally was brought out from the administrative building, led by the university vice-chancellor, around 10:00am.

The national flag was also kept at half-mast and black flags were hoisted atop the university’s dormitories.
