The information was confirmed on Sunday by a <strong>senior local police official<\/strong> to news agency Reuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case has been filed against <strong>top leaders of Vijay\u2019s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)<\/strong>, including Vijay himself, who has been the party\u2019s president since its formation. Others named in the case include <strong>Bussey Anand, Nirmal Kumar<\/strong>, and <strong>V.P. Mathialagan<\/strong>. Police allege that the <strong>TVK violated official conditions<\/strong> set for the rally and <strong>disregarded safety protocols<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rally, held on Saturday ahead of the upcoming <strong>state assembly elections<\/strong>, ended in tragedy when <strong>40 people were crushed to death<\/strong> in a stampede. Among the deceased were <strong>17 women and 9 children<\/strong>. More than <strong>50 people are currently being treated in hospitals<\/strong> for injuries sustained during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to police, <strong>TVK had sought permission for 10,000 attendees<\/strong>, but <strong>more than double that number<\/strong> showed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijay also faces criticism for <strong>arriving late<\/strong> to the event. Several attendees reportedly waited <strong>all day to catch a glimpse of the actor<\/strong>, and as Vijay finally took the stage in the evening, <strong>crowds surged toward the barricades<\/strong>, leading to panic and a deadly stampede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the tragedy, <strong>Thalapathy Vijay expressed deep sorrow<\/strong> on social media platform <strong>X (formerly Twitter)<\/strong>, writing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is a pain beyond words. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the brothers and sisters who lost their lives.
