{"id":5723,"date":"2025-11-20T09:13:46","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T09:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=5723"},"modified":"2025-11-20T09:13:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T09:13:49","slug":"facebook-remarks-on-tarique-case-against-content-creator-dismissed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=5723","title":{"rendered":"Facebook remarks on Tarique: Case against content creator dismissed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A Dhaka court has summarily dismissed a case filed against a content creator under the Cyber Security Ordinance for allegedly making derogatory remarks on Facebook about BNP&#8217;s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judge Mohammad Saidur Rahman Gazi of the Cyber Tribunal in Dhaka yesterday passed the order as the case was not filed with proper documents, Md Juwel Miah, bench assistant of the tribunal, told The Daily Star today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, Eltut Mish, a leader of pro-BNP lawyers&#8217; group, filed the case against the content creator, Shahin Mahmud, with the tribunal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge also recorded statements of the complainant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the case documents, on November 12, Tarique delivered a virtual speech at a party rally, saying &#8220;In the current situation, ensuring a fair price for potatoes is much more important than holding a referendum.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 15, Shahin posted from his verified Facebook profile: &#8220;If Tk 88 crore spent on buying a bulletproof car had been given to the farmers, they would have received fair prices for onions and potatoes.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The complainant alleges that through this post, the accused made false and derogatory comments in an attempt to undermine Tarique&#8217;s dignity, honour, patriotism, and political foresight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The accused intentionally tainted Tarique Rahman&#8217;s political and social reputation.
