{"id":5747,"date":"2025-11-25T07:59:26","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T07:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=5747"},"modified":"2025-11-25T07:59:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T07:59:29","slug":"online-recharge-for-metro-rail-cards-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=5747","title":{"rendered":"Online recharge for metro rail cards now available"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>An online recharge system has been introduced for Rapid Pass and MRT Pass for Dhaka&#8217;s metro rail service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, cardholders can now top up these two passes anytime and from anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system was inaugurated today at the Agargaon Metro Rail station by Sheikh Moinuddin, special assistant to the chief adviser assigned to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional Secretary Nikhil Kumar Das and Dhaka Transport Co-ordination Authority (DTCA) Executive Director Nilima Akhter were also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the new system, Commuters can now add credit to their Rapid\/MRT Pass\u2014used on metro rail, buses and other services\u2014through bank cards and mobile financial services via the official website or the soon-to-be launched mobile app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative reflects the authority&#8217;s push towards digital services under the slogan: &#8220;No more queues, online recharge is now in your hands.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Dhaka Transport Co-ordination Authority (DTCA), users must complete two steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online payment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Register on www.rapidpass.com.bd, log in, select a card and pay through a preferred method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Balance update:<\/strong>&nbsp;Tap the card at any Add Value Machine (AVM) at metro stations to update the physical balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until a card is tapped at an AVM, the recharge will remain pending. DTCA also confirmed that both Rapid Pass and Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited&#8217;s MRT Pass are eligible for the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transaction rules and limits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users can recharge between Tk 500 and Tk 5,000 at a time. A new recharge cannot be made until a pending top-up above Tk 500 has been updated at an AVM. If a card is blacklisted, disabled or invalid, the system will not process a recharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recharges may be cancelled within seven days if the AVM tap has not been completed. A 2 percent service charge applies. In cases where a blacklisted card prevents balance updates despite an online transaction, a 5 percent service charge will be deducted once bank verification is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is a joint initiative of DTCA, the Road Transport and Highways Division, and Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), aiming to support commuters with a more convenient and modernised ticketing experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An online recharge system has been introduced for Rapid Pass and MRT Pass for Dhaka&#8217;s metro rail service.
