{"id":6318,"date":"2026-05-13T12:13:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=6318"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:13:40","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T12:13:40","slug":"rush-for-eid-train-tickets-33-lakh-online-attempts-in-15-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=6318","title":{"rendered":"Rush for Eid train tickets: 33 lakh online attempts in 15 minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangladesh Railway began advance online sales today, with thousands of May 23 seats snapped up within minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangladesh Railway (BR) today began selling advance online tickets for intercity trains ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ticket sales for the Eastern Zone &#8212; covering Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions &#8212; began at 2:15pm, according to Railway officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 12,500 of the 15,266 available seats on Eastern Zone trains for May 23 were sold within 15 minutes of tickets going on sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the first 15 minutes, users made around 33 lakh online attempts to purchase tickets, officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, ticket sales for the Western Zone &#8212; covering Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions &#8212; began at 8:15am today for May 23 journeys. Around 14,000 of the 15,974 available seats were sold within 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shondip Debnath, chief executive officer of Shohoz, Bangladesh Railway\u2019s online ticketing platform, confirmed the figures to The Daily Star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said ticket sales for the Western Zone were almost complete by 2:00pm, while sales for the Eastern Zone were still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, users made around two lakh attempts per minute to buy tickets for the Western Zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangladesh Railway is selling all advance Eid tickets online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 23, a total of 43 intercity trains are scheduled to depart from Dhaka.
