“Nuclear energy will meet the increasing demand for electricity required for our growing industrial development,” Minister of Science and Information Fakir Mahabub Anam said while chairing the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the Rooppur plant is more than a power station, calling it a significant leap in the nation\u2019s technological capabilities, a foundation for developing experienced manpower, and a source of strengthened self-confidence for future achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also highlighted the long historical journey behind the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Md Anwar Hossain, secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, delivered the inaugural speech, outlining the history of the country\u2019s first nuclear power plant. He underscored that \u201csafety first\u201d remains the primary concern for the Rooppur facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the distinguished guests were Alexey Likhachev, director general of Rosatom, and PM\u2019s Adviser Rehan Asif Asad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rehan Asif Asad said Rooppur marks the beginning of a new era in the power sector, noting that the electricity generated at the plant will play a vital role in both industrial and socio-economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony also featured a recorded message from Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who congratulated Bangladesh on reaching the fuel-loading milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
