{"id":6651,"date":"2026-07-09T17:06:41","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T17:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=6651"},"modified":"2026-07-09T17:06:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T17:06:44","slug":"bangladesh-railway-west-zone-gms-wife-promoted-to-joint-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedhakajournal.com\/?p=6651","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh Railway West Zone GM&#8217;s Wife Promoted to Joint Secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms. <strong>Shamsun Nahar Sumi<\/strong>, wife of <strong>Farid Ahmed<\/strong>, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), has been promoted to the rank of <strong>Joint Secretary<\/strong> from <strong>Deputy Secretary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The promotion was announced through an official notification issued by the <strong>Ministry of Public Administration<\/strong> on <strong>Thursday (July 9)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with Ms. Sumi, a total of <strong>178 Deputy Secretaries<\/strong> have been promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the relevant promotion rules, an officer becomes eligible for consideration for promotion to Joint Secretary after completing at least <strong>five years as a Deputy Secretary<\/strong> and <strong>15 years of service<\/strong> in the respective cadre, or <strong>three years as a Deputy Secretary<\/strong> with a total of <strong>20 years of government service<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms. Shamsun Nahar Sumi joined the <strong>Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration Cadre)<\/strong> through the <strong>25th BCS<\/strong> on <strong>August 21, 2006<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is currently serving with distinction as the <strong>Executive Director (Deputy Secretary)<\/strong> of the <strong>Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Trust (Bangladesh)<\/strong> under the <strong>Ministry of Social Welfare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the promotion, <strong>Farid Ahmed<\/strong>, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), expressed his gratitude and requested prayers and blessings for his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The news of Ms. Sumi&#8217;s promotion has been warmly welcomed by officials and employees across various levels of Bangladesh&#8217;s railway sector, who extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ms. Shamsun Nahar Sumi, wife of Farid Ahmed, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), has been promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary from Deputy Secretary.
