Former administrative official K M Golam Mawla has been accused of violating administrative discipline and creating disorder with the involvement of outsiders at Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to internal sources, on August 4, Golam Mawla allegedly entered the office of the college principal along with several supporters under the pretext of submitting a copy of a letter regarding the reconstitution of the governing body by the University of Dhaka. Sources claim that an altercation ensued, creating an unwanted situation inside the principal’s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The allegations also refer to an earlier incident on November 19, 2024, when Golam Mawla and his supporters allegedly carried out an attack on the institution and vandalized its pharmacy. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage reportedly documented the incident. A criminal case filed in connection with the alleged vandalism lists Golam Mawla as Accused No. 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Individuals claiming to be affected by the incidents said that Golam Mawla previously served as an administrative officer at the then Maulana Bhashani Medical College from 2003 to 2008-09. He later briefly assumed the post of Director (Administration) in September 2024, but the appointment was reportedly cancelled following a court order. They further alleged that despite losing the position, he has repeatedly attempted to create unrest on the college campus to serve personal interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior official of the medical college said, “Using a photocopy of the governing body reconstitution letter, he entered the principal’s office with outsiders and created a disturbance. A criminal case over the November 2024 vandalism is already pending, and the CCTV footage has been preserved.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Golam Mawla denied all allegations of creating disorder at the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to this correspondent, he said that he had gone alone to deliver the University of Dhaka’s letter regarding the newly constituted governing body to the principal. According to him, three Sub-Inspectors (SIs) of police were present at the time, and no shouting, altercation, or disruption took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further claimed that the previous criminal case filed against him was false and had been dismissed by the court. He also maintained that the newly constituted governing body was legally valid under the University of Dhaka’s regulations and supported by an Appellate Division order. According to Golam Mawla, a vested group is deliberately spreading false allegations to create confusion. He urged reporters to verify the facts with the local police and the concerned police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No official statement from the principal of Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College was available at the time of filing this report.
