For nearly 250 children living at Jamia Mohammadia Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage in the capital, life revolves around a few belongings\u2014a handful of boxes, a bed and a small trunk. Away from the warmth of their families, holidays often pass like any other day, leaving little room for the joys of childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amid this loneliness, the Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Foundation has been bringing moments of care, happiness and hope to orphaned and underprivileged children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the initiative of ABG Foundation Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir, arrangements are regularly made to provide quality meals to orphaned and disadvantaged children. Every Friday after Jumu’ah prayers, nutritious meals are distributed among the children, giving them not only food but also a sense of care and affection similar to that of family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative is not limited to regular food distribution. On special occasions in his own life, including his birthday, Sayem Sobhan Anvir has also chosen to stand beside underprivileged children rather than arrange lavish celebrations. For him, bringing smiles to the faces of disadvantaged children is a more meaningful way to mark such occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the ongoing humanitarian initiative, special food packages and refreshments were distributed among children at several madrasa and orphanage facilities in Dhaka after Jumu’ah prayers on Friday (August 7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those involved in the initiative said the programme goes beyond simply addressing hunger. It also conveys a broader message of social responsibility, compassion and solidarity toward children who grow up without the support and affection of their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several madrasa students said Friday feels different from other days of the week because they look forward to receiving the special meals. Their faces reflected visible happiness and relief after receiving the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One student said many orphaned children had the opportunity to enjoy a good meal after a long time. Expressing appreciation for Sayem Sobhan Anvir’s initiative, the student said they hoped he would continue to stand beside madrasa students and orphaned children in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Madrasa founder and principal Maulana Abdul Latif Farooqi thanked ABG Foundation Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir for the initiative, saying such programmes meet not only the children’s nutritional needs but also contribute positively to their mental and emotional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, initiatives like this help children develop a belief that there are still compassionate people in society who care about their wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed hope that the smiles brought to the faces of the orphaned children through the initiative would spread further and that such humanitarian activities would continue in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Madrasa assistant teacher Maulana Rafiqul Islam said Sayem Sobhan Anvir had been quietly engaged in humanitarian activities for a long time without seeking publicity or formal recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cArrangements are being made to provide food to students and orphaned children through his initiative, which is truly commendable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He described the ABG Foundation’s programme as a meaningful and welfare-oriented initiative, expressing hope that the foundation would expand its humanitarian activities and support more people in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to people involved with the programme, on the initiative of ABG Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir, food is regularly provided every Friday to at least 1,500 distressed people and 500 orphaned children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides weekly food distribution, the ABG Foundation has also been carrying out various social welfare programmes, including distributing sehri and iftar during Ramadan, meat during Eid-ul-Adha, winter clothing and educational assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alongside his business success, Sayem Sobhan Anvir places importance on standing beside people as part of his social responsibility. He has also maintained a tradition of extending support to disadvantaged and orphaned children on various special occasions in his personal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ABG Foundation Senior Executive Gazi Badal said the foundation is a social and welfare organisation committed to helping disadvantaged people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs part of our weekly programme, quality food was distributed among orphaned and disadvantaged students at four madrasas in the capital today. The foundation regularly provides meals for disadvantaged people and orphaned students. This initiative will continue in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond his identity as a business leader, Sayem Sobhan Anvir is also known for quietly supporting people in need. Much of his humanitarian work takes place away from the public eye. Those who have witnessed his activities closely say the extent of his support for disadvantaged people is far-reaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From individual efforts to institutional programmes, the continued commitment to helping people in need has given the ABG Foundation’s social initiatives a distinctive dimension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
