Tension and a clash have reportedly erupted in South Balurchar of Keraniganj over bringing a funeral bier to carry the body of a deceased person. Five to six people, including Parvez, Shahabuddin, Alkas, Ripon and Joni, were reportedly injured in the incident. Shahabuddin was said to have sustained serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to local residents and the alleged victims, a bier was being brought from South Balurchar First Baitun Nur Jame Mosque to carry the body of a deceased person. At that time, several people from South Balurchar Central Jame Mosque allegedly went there and obstructed the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims alleged that the individuals from the Central Jame Mosque told them that the body could not be placed on the bier brought from Baitun Nur Jame Mosque. An argument and tension reportedly followed, eventually escalating into a physical clash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shahabuddin and several others were injured in the incident. The victims alleged that they were subjected to further assault. The injured individuals identified so far include Parvez, Shahabuddin, Alkas, Ripon and Joni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local residents expressed disappointment over the incident, saying that a dispute and clash over a bier meant to carry the body of a deceased person was highly unfortunate and unacceptable. They called for a fair investigation and legal action against those found responsible in order to protect religious and social harmony in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims alleged that Hridoy, son of Shafik; Akash, son of Khalek; Ataur; and Kajus, among others, were involved in the alleged assault. However, the accused could not immediately be reached for comment. Therefore, the allegations should be verified through an impartial investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some local residents also alleged that some of the accused had previously been involved in activities involving political influence and other incidents. They further claimed that there had been allegations involving local dominance, drugs, juvenile gangs and land grabbing in the area. However, these allegations could not be independently verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims said they were preparing to file a written complaint with Keraniganj Police Station over the incident. They demanded an impartial investigation, identification of those actually responsible for the alleged assault, and legal action against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local residents urged law enforcement agencies to take effective measures if any individual or group uses political or social influence to create disorder in the area. They also called for a thorough investigation to establish the facts of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents said the reported assault and clash over bringing a funeral bier should not be viewed merely as a local dispute, as such incidents could also raise concerns about social and religious harmony in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
