A widow has alleged that she has been facing harassment and an alleged attempt to take control of property left behind by her late husband in the Chandrima Housing area of Mohammadpur in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complainant, Nowrin Sultana Mishu, is the wife of late Lat Kamal. According to her, a flat and a portion of land in Chandrima Housing were under her husband\u2019s possession during his lifetime. She claims that after his death, several individuals and an alleged group became active around the property and began attempting to take control of it through various means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mishu further alleged that she has been subjected to different forms of harassment since the death of her husband. She claimed that the efforts to take control of the property have continued through various tactics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An inquiry involving the Chandrima Housing authorities and a review of relevant documents indicate that the issues surrounding ownership, inheritance and possession of the property require further examination. The actual ownership and possession of the property, concerned parties said, should ultimately be determined on the basis of valid documents and through due legal process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, several local sources have made various allegations against Moinuddin Ahmed. However, the independent and impartial verification of those allegations has not been possible so far. Attempts are ongoing to obtain statements from the accused and other concerned individuals. Their responses will be incorporated into the report if and when they are received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mishu also alleged that some local representatives and other individuals have faced lawsuits and harassment after speaking about the property dispute. She claimed that, as a result, many people in the area are reluctant to speak publicly about the matter. These allegations also require independent verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Mishu, she has taken initiatives to submit written complaints and memorandums to relevant administrative offices, police authorities and senior officials of law enforcement agencies. She also intends to bring the matter to the attention of human rights organisations, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and relevant land authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am a citizen of Bangladesh and I want justice. If my husband, Lat Kamal, were alive today, perhaps I would not have had to face such a situation. After his death, I feel helpless. I want the actual ownership and possession of my property to be investigated impartially, and I want legal action to be taken against those who are harassing me unlawfully,\u201d Mishu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added, \u201cI do not want any biased investigation. I want the truth to come out through a proper and impartial investigation. I hope to receive justice with the cooperation of the relevant authorities and the people of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alongside the allegations made by the complainant and claims from local sources, verification of the property\u2019s deeds, inheritance records, possession-related documents and statements from the relevant authorities is considered essential to establish the facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
