Asian Television, one of the country’s leading satellite television channels, celebrated its 13th anniversary on Sunday with a formal programme at its head office.
The celebration was inaugurated with a cake-cutting ceremony by Rupayan Group Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman of Asian Television, Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul; Rupayan Group Co-Chairman and Director of Asian Television, Mahir Ali Khan Ratul; and Asian Television Chief Executive Officer Md. Zahid Ibn Rashid.Also present on the occasion were Rupayan Group Vice Chairman Ali Akbar Khan Ratan, Asian TV DMD Sazzad Rashid Parvez, Rupayan Group Adviser Brigadier General Abul Kalam Azad (Retd), Abdul Gaffar, former President of the National Press Club and Editor of Daily Desh Rupantor Kamal Uddin Sabuj, prominent businessman Shariful Azam Chowdhury, among others.
Before cutting the cake, Rupayan Group Co-Chairman Mahir Ali Khan Ratul said that alongside real estate, the Rupayan Group places strong emphasis on information technology and media. He noted that the group has been investing in television and print media to ensure free flow of information and has been managing media outlets professionally.He cited Asian Television and Daily Desh Rupantor as practical examples, and urged all employees of Asian TV to continue broadcasting objective news and quality programmes with sincerity. He also mentioned that Asian Television’s programmes and news department would be taken to a new height in 2026.
Asian Television CEO Md. Zahid Ibn Rashid said that in the coming days, viewers will enjoy a variety of new and popular programmes on the channel.Editor of Daily Desh Rupantor Kamal Uddin Sabuj said that democracy thrives only when the media is free, and democracy is beneficial for all governments. He expressed hope that Asian Television would continue to work for the welfare of the country and the nation through objective journalism, as it has done in the past.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Asian Television’s screen was filled with a variety of special programmes throughout the day to mark the celebration.
