Generating over 52 billion units of electricity annually

Dhaka, July 1, 2026:
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has surpassed 20,000 megawatts of renewable power generation capacity. The company, which has achieved this milestone in India’s energy sector, reached this capacity within just a decade of commissioning its first project.
Powering over 9 million households, the company currently generates more than 52 billion units of electricity annually, which is nearly 3 percent of India’s total electricity consumption. This amount of electricity could meet the demand of New York City for an entire year, or almost fully cover the combined electricity demand of Mumbai and New Delhi. According to data as of May 31 this year, this generation capacity represents about 14 percent of India’s utility-scale solar installations and around 12 percent of the combined capacity of solar and wind power.
AGEL’s current generation capacity includes approximately 14,200 megawatts of solar power, 2,700 megawatts of wind power, and 3,300 megawatts of hybrid power. In the 2025-26 fiscal year alone, the company added 5,051 megawatts of new capacity, the highest single-year addition by any company outside China. The company began its journey in 2016 with a 648-megawatt solar project in Kamuthi, Tamil Nadu, which was the world’s largest single-location solar project at the time.
Speaking on the milestone, Sagar Adani, Executive Director of AGEL, said, ” Today, AGEL, along with our efficient team and longstanding partners, delivers renewable electricity almost equivalent to annual power requirement of Mumbai and New Delhi combined, reinforcing the country’s energy security while accelerating its clean energy transition.”
Battery storage technology is playing a significant role in the company’s future plans. The company has already set up 3,550 megawatt-hours of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at Khavda, Gujarat — the largest such installation outside China. The company plans to add another 10,000 megawatt-hours in the 2026-27 fiscal year and expand total capacity to 50,000 megawatt-hours over the next five years, which will support its goal of achieving 50,000 megawatts of renewable energy generation by 2030.
Khavda is also home to what is being developed as the world’s largest renewable energy hub. Spread across 538 square kilometers, the area is nearly five times the size of Paris. With a planned

capacity of about 30,000 megawatts, the site is already generating 9,500 megawatts of solar power. AGEL currently operates across 12 Indian states.
