BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday stated that the interim government is making preparations to hold elections by December.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at his residence, Jamuna, Mirza Fakhrul confirmed that the government is actively working towards an election within the specified timeline.
“The Chief Advisor and his team have assured us that they are taking swift steps to organize the elections. He also mentioned that the government is working towards holding the elections by December,” said the BNP Secretary General.
He further emphasized the need for a clear electoral roadmap. “We hope that the Chief Advisor will soon announce a roadmap that aligns with public expectations, leading to the completion of elections by December,” he added.
Earlier, at 6 PM, a three-member BNP delegation, led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, entered Jamuna for the meeting. The delegation also included BNP Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The discussion lasted from 6:20 PM to 7:35 PM.
Prior to this meeting, on Sunday (February 9), a three-member BNP delegation met with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon to discuss the election roadmap. That delegation was led by BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and included members Selima Rahman and Salahuddin Ahmed.
