An alleged extramarital affair between two teachers of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) has sparked widespread controversy among students, teachers, guardians, and staff, severely tarnishing the reputation of the renowned institution.
According to reports, DRMC English Department Assistant Professor Abdul Jalil and Zoology Lecturer Ayesha Khatun were allegedly involved in a long-term illicit relationship. As a result, Ayesha Khatun reportedly divorced her husband, Md. Abul Farah Patwary, after allegedly taking cash and property worth several crores of taka from him.The victim, Abul Farah Patwary, filed a case on October 19, 2025, which is currently under investigation by the Detective Branch (DB). He said he had also submitted complaints to the college principal and the chairman of the governing body but received no remedy, leaving him with no choice but to seek legal action.
Patwary further alleged that before their divorce, Ayesha strategically obtained large amounts of money and had him transfer 4.125 decimals of land in her name. He claims he is now financially ruined and homeless, wandering from place to place after losing his family, children, and property. He stated, “We were married on May 26, 2000, and were blessed with two sons. I bore all family expenses, supported her parental family, and paid for all her academic costs, including her BSc (Honours) and MSc. In 2009, she joined DRMC as a part-time lecturer in Zoology. Although she failed to secure a permanent position in 2009 and 2012, she later managed to get the job in 2015 through a forged freedom fighter certificate of her father, with the alleged help of then teacher representative Md. Bakabillah.”
He added that the forged certificate not only helped her secure the teaching position but also enabled her father, Md. Rafiqul Islam, to receive Tk 20,000 monthly as a freedom fighter allowance and her brother, Saidur Rahman Kawsar, to gain employment at Sonali Bank, Imamganj Branch.Patwary alleged that after becoming a permanent lecturer, Ayesha’s behaviour changed drastically. Suspicious of her activities, he began monitoring her closely and eventually discovered her intimate relationship with Assistant Professor Abdul Jalil, who was also the English teacher of their children.
The alleged affair intensified after Ayesha moved into the college quarters in 2020. Patwary claims to have witnessed the pair together in compromising situations on multiple occasions. A family arbitration was later held, during which Ayesha reportedly promised to end the relationship in exchange for the transfer of the land property. Trusting her, Patwary executed the heba deed on August 27, 2020.However, he claims her abusive behaviour escalated afterward, culminating in severe physical and mental torture. On October 19, 2022, he was allegedly expelled from the home with only the clothes he was wearing, while Ayesha kept all valuables worth an estimated Tk 20 lakh.
Efforts to obtain comments from Assistant Professor Abdul Jalil and Lecturer Ayesha Khatun were unsuccessful, as they could not be reached over the phone.
