Special Correspondent:
Over the past few days, several media outlets have published reports alleging that Lutfar Begum, a second-class employee of the Office of the Chief Establishment Officer of Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Region), commutes to her office using a Land Cruiser vehicle.
Responding to the reports, Lutfar Begum told Dhaka Journal that the news was misleading and factually incorrect. She stated that the media outlets used the registration number of her husband’s officially allocated pickup truck (Dhaka Metro-Tha-11-3544) while publishing images of a brand-new Land Cruiser along with an edited photograph of her.“As these false images and reports spread on social media, I have been mentally and socially humiliated and harmed,” she said. “I would have had no objection if the correct image of the actual vehicle had been used.”
Lutfar Begum further clarified that her husband, a first-class government officer serving as a field officer, is officially entitled to a pickup truck in accordance with his designation. During office commutes or road inspections, her husband occasionally drops her off at her workplace while using the allocated vehicle. She also mentioned that she and her husband reside together with their family in a government-allotted railway residence issued in her name. “Since we are both government employees, we support each other in our daily lives. Where is the wrongdoing in that?” she questioned.
Highlighting her professional record, Lutfar Begum said that she secured first position in all railway examinations and has continued her service with reputation, integrity, and efficiency throughout her career.
“I leave my judgment to Allah,” she added. “Those who have published false news in my name will face Allah’s justice.”
