Tejgaon College students today blocked the Farmgate intersection, demanding justice for a fellow student, Sakibul Hasan Rana, who died on December 10, four days after suffering injuries in a dormitory attack.

The blockade began around 10:00am, bringing traffic movement in the surrounding Farmgate area to a standstill.

Habib Rahman, a friend of the victim, said, “We want justice for Rana. We blocked the road earlier and withdrew after assurance from the authorities but the identified killers are moving freely.”

“We will continue our protest,” he said.

Habib said only one person had been arrested so far, but those seen in the CCTV footage were still out of the hook.

Rana, 18, a Class XII student, passed away around noon on December 10 at the ICU of a Moghbazar hospital in Dhaka.

The following day, students again blocked the busy intersection for more than two hours.

The students said Rana was attacked for protesting drug abuse. They claimed that members of both groups involved were associated with Chhatra Dal leaders.
