BNP-nominated candidate for Barishal-6 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and freedom fighter Abul Hossain Khan held a views-exchange meeting with residents of Bakerganj Upazila currently living in Dhaka.
The meeting was held on Saturday at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Ramna, Dhaka. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Sheikh Monir Uddin Jewel, while Engineer K M Asaduzzaman Chunnu, General Secretary of IEB Dhaka Centre, conducted the proceedings.Among the speakers were former Central Joint General Secretary of Jubo Dal Golam Mawla Shaheen, former Chief Engineer of LGED Matiur Rahman, Vice President of Doctors Association of Bangladesh Dr Shahidul Islam, senior BNP leader of Bakerganj Upazila and former chairman Harun Or Rashid Shikdar, Principal Mashiur Rahman Masud, Member Secretary of Muktijuddher Projonmo Advocate Kamruzzaman Nannu, former central Chhatra Dal leader Rafiqul Islam, Joint Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal Faisal Ahmed Khan, Co-Office Secretary Osman Gani, former Assistant General Secretary Saidur Rahman Mamun, former Assistant Organising Secretary Md Alamgir Hossain Shaheen, Joint Secretary of Central Chhatra Dal Omar Sani, former General Secretary of Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal Belal Khan, Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Kamal, President of Bakerganj Thana Kallyan Samity Soaib Talukdar, General Secretary Gazi Shahiduzzaman Mintu, President of Dhaka-based Bakerganj Jatiyatabadi Forum Talukdar Ashraful Islam Sohag, General Secretary H M Sohel Rana, President of Garber Bakerganj Mozammel Haque Mohan, President of Jatiyatabadi Parishad Md Masud, President of Kalsakathi Nagorik Samaj Abul Bashar, among others.
During the discussion, various problems, prospects and future development plans of Bakerganj Upazila were highlighted. Professionals, students, general citizens, and leaders of political and social organisations from Bakerganj living in Dhaka took part in the programme.Addressing the gathering, Abul Hossain Khan pledged to make all-out efforts for the development of the area if elected as a Member of Parliament. He also shared several development plans aimed at improving the quality of life of the people in the constituency.
