EC begins nationwide distribution of election materials

The Election Commission today began distributing election materials, including ballot boxes, to the polling centres across the country ahead of the 13th national election and referendum, scheduled for tomorrow.
According to the commission’s schedule, ballot boxes are expected to reach polling centres in Dhaka and other major cities by the evening.While visiting a distribution centre at Dhaka Residential Model College, our photographer saw polling officials, along with members of law enforcement agencies and Ansar, waiting to receive election materials for their respective centres.After receiving the materials, an assistant presiding officer said they had reached the centre in the morning and collected the supplies after standing in a queue.After receiving the materials, we are verifying them against the checklist to ensure everything has been provided as required. We will then take them to the polling centres and set up the booths today in preparation for tomorrow’s voting,” the officer said.

Similar distribution activities were seen at several other centres in and outside Dhaka.

Voting in both the general election and the referendum will be held tomorrow (Thursday).Polling will open at 7:30am and continue until 4:30pm without any break, at 42,779 centres nationwide.

The Election Commission (EC) said 12.77 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots, including 6.48 crore men and 6.28 crore women.
Balloting will take place in 299 of the country’s 300 constituencies, as polling in Sherpur-3 has been postponed following the death of a candidate of Jamaat.
