A counter‑case has been filed against supporters of MP Barrister Rumeen Farhana, hours after a complaint was lodged over obstructing her at the Shaheed Minar in Sarail in Brahmanbaria.On Sunday night, Tamim Mia, an employee of a business owned by Anwar Hossain alias Anwar Master — a district BNP member and former general secretary of Sarail upazila unit BNP — filed the case with Sarail Police Station.The complaint names 17 individuals and lists 100 to 150 others as unidentified accused.Manzur Kader Bhuiyan, officer‑in‑charge of Sarail Police Station, confirmed the filing.According to the FIR, a group of accused gathered in front of Anwar Hossain’s Farzana Anwar Diagnostic Center and his residence in the early hours of February 21, hurling abuses. When Tamim protested, he was allegedly assaulted and robbed. The complaint also states that Rumeen Farhana’s supporters became agitated after chanting slogans at the Shaheed Minar that day.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, a supporter of Rumeen Farhana had filed a separate case naming Anwar Hossain as the prime accused, along with four others, and listing 150 unidentified individuals.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on February 21, when Rumeen Farhana went to the Sarail Central Shaheed Minar to pay tribute on International Mother Language Day. She was allegedly obstructed, with claims that her supporters were assaulted, and left the premises without offering tribute amid tension.
