Demand Raised to Develop Barguna’s Tourism Industry

A demand has been raised to develop the tourism industry of Barguna, a district rich in rivers, forests and natural beauty. The call was made by the Dhaka-based Barguna District Journalists Association at an Iftar and prayer gathering held on Friday (March 13) in the capital.

The event was organized at Hotel La Vinchi in Karwan Bazar, where speakers highlighted the potential and challenges of Barguna’s tourism, education, road connectivity, rivers, forests and fisheries sector. They also urged journalists to play an active role in bringing forward the district’s problems and prospects through the media.Speakers further called upon the newly elected Members of Parliament and other public representatives to contribute to the overall development and progress of the district.

The program was chaired by the president of the organization, Abdul Khalek Lovlu, and moderated by its general secretary, Toufiq Mahmud. Tariqul Islam Masum, president of the Barishal Divisional Journalist Association, attended the event as the chief guest.Among the special guests were Amanullah Aman, organizing secretary of the central Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal; Mahbub Saikat, general secretary of the Barishal Divisional Journalist Association; District and Sessions Judge Md. Zakaria; adviser of the organization Bached Akon; Yunus Sohag; Editor of ETC News and Rail News Mehedi Hasan; and Advocate Gazi Touhidul Islam, a leader of the Jatiyatabadi Lawyers’ Forum, among others.

At the end of the program, a special prayer was offered seeking peace and prosperity for the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
