BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and former Member of Parliament Nazim Uddin Alam has said that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was a symbol of national unity who united the people of the country through her multifaceted contributions.
He made the remarks on Sunday (March 15) while speaking as the chief guest at a program organized by the Boishommo Protirodh Foundation in Nayapaltan, where prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for Khaleda Zia’s soul.Nazim Uddin Alam said Khaleda Zia rose from being a housewife to becoming a stateswoman and succeeded in bringing people of the country together through her leadership. He added that she would always remain in the hearts of the nation.
He further said whenever questions of democracy, patriotism, and sincere service to the people arise in Bangladesh, people will remember Khaleda Zia. “She always stood beside the people, especially farmers, workers, and the working class. She fought on the streets to establish democracy,” he added.
General Secretary of Bangladesh National Awami Party (NAP) M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiya said Khaleda Zia was a symbol of national unity and democracy. Throughout her life, she carried out uncompromising struggles to protect democracy, people’s rights, and the country’s independence and sovereignty. “She never bowed to any authoritarian government and established herself as an uncompromising leader,” he said.
In his presidential speech, Md. Zahirul Islam Kolim said Khaleda Zia, the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh, remained uncompromising on the issues of democracy and people’s rights.The event was chaired by Md. Zahirul Islam Kolim, President of the organization and Editor of the daily newspaper Daily Kholabazar. Among others who spoke at the program were former Vice-President of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Ali Akbar Chunnu, former Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Krishak Dal Shahjahan Samrat, Editor of Rail News Mehedi Hasan, and President of Projonmo Academy Kalam Foyez.
