DBL Ceramics has earned international recognition after its innovative sustainability campaign “TileChalk” received Merit Awards in two major categories at The One Show 2026 — the “Green Pencil” and “Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Pencil” categories.

With this achievement, DBL Ceramics became the first ceramics brand from Bangladesh to receive such recognition on a prestigious global creative platform.

Before gaining international acclaim at The One Show, the “TileChalk” campaign had already won recognition at renowned global events including Spikes Asia, ADFEST and AdForum PHNX Tribute 2026.
“TileChalk” is a sustainability-driven initiative that transforms ceramic sludge — a waste byproduct generated during tile manufacturing — into classroom chalk. The project addresses two major challenges simultaneously: reducing environmentally harmful industrial waste while supporting underprivileged educational institutions with essential learning materials.

One of the campaign’s most notable aspects is that the “TileChalk” formula has been made open source, allowing other manufacturers to adopt the method and contribute to environmentally responsible production practices.

Speaking about the achievement, Mohammad Bayezid Bashar, Chief Business Officer of DBL Ceramics, said the company was delighted to receive the recognition.
“We initially started this initiative to solve an internal problem and never imagined it would reach such a global stage. Awards are certainly inspiring, but our greatest achievement is ensuring zero dumping at our factories and placing educational materials in the hands of underprivileged children. We are proud to represent Bangladesh on this platform,” he said.

He further added that DBL Ceramics would continue focusing on sustainable innovations that create positive impacts on people’s lives beyond business.Industry analysts say the recognition at The One Show highlights how creativity can go beyond advertising and brand communication to provide practical solutions to environmental and social challenges. “TileChalk” stands out as a powerful example of turning industrial waste into a tool for positive change in both education and environmental sustainability.
