Institute of Tropical Ecology and Biodiversity Holds AGM, Reconstitutes Board for 2026–2027

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute of Tropical Ecology and Biodiversity (ITEB) was held on Saturday, where a new seven-member Board of Directors was reconstituted for the 2026–2027 term.

At the meeting, Dr. A.J.M. A. Rouf was elected Chairman, while Professor Dr. Md. Shamsuzzoha was elected Executive Director of the organization. Other members of the newly formed board include Md. Abdul Wazed, Murtaza Saiful Alam, Professor Dr. Rajib Sarkar, Md. Mehedi Hasan, and Mrs.Masuma Chowdhury.

The AGM took place at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room of Corbel International Limited in the capital. Senior member Soaib Chowdhury served as the Election Commissioner for the board election.

The event began with a welcome address by Murtaza Saiful Alam, Founding Chairman of the Bangladesh Environment Center. The Holy Quran was recited by Md. Rafiqul Islam. Subsequently, Dr. A.J.M. Abdur Rouf presented the organization’s annual activities and achievements report for 2025.

During the meeting, the newly elected board members outlined their work plan for 2026–2027 and expressed their commitment to further expanding the organization’s activities in environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and public awareness.

It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Environment Center (registered as the Institute of Tropical Ecology and Biodiversity) is a voluntary organization established and registered in 2001. The organization has been playing a significant role for many years in the fields of environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development.
