Ashraful Alam (Chanchal) Relieved from Zia Parishad over Alleged Awami League Links

Md. Ashraful Alam (Chanchal), a member of the Central Committee of Zia Parishad at Rupali Bank PLC, has been relieved of his primary membership and all organizational activities of the organization over allegations of links with the Awami League.

According to an organizational letter issued on January 6, 2026, various photographs, documents, and records indicating Ashraful Alam’s alleged association with the Awami League during the regime of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were submitted to the Central Committee of Zia Parishad, Rupali Bank PLC. Following a review of the allegations, the central committee served him with a show-cause notice on March 22, 2025.

Sources within the Zia Parishad Rupali Bank PLC Central Committee stated that although he was given an opportunity to explain the allegations, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding his alleged affiliation with the Awami League. The committee also claimed that several of his activities were found to be inconsistent with the organization’s discipline and principles.

The matter was discussed on multiple occasions at the central committee forum. After reviewing the overall situation, the committee decided to take organizational action against him.

The relief order stated that Md. Ashraful Alam (Chanchal) had been removed from the primary membership and all levels of organizational activities of Zia Parishad Rupali Bank PLC Central Committee due to allegations of involvement in activities contrary to the organization’s principles, ideology, and discipline.

The letter was signed by Convener Md. Golam Sarwar, Senior Joint Convener A.S.M. Niaz Morshed, and Member Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury of the Zia Parishad Rupali Bank PLC Central Committee.
