Saudi envoy hands over a letter from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud; Tarique Rahman invites Saudi crown prince to visit Bangladesh

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdullah Zafer H bin Abiyah today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.The meeting was held at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat at 9:40am, Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Hossain Shadhin said.During the meeting, the Saudi envoy handed over a letter from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the prime minister, he said.The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest.Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir shared the details with the media at a briefing at the foreign ministry this morning.

He said  Tarique Rahman had also extended an invitation to the Saudi crown prince to visit Bangladesh.

“This is a very significant event. We have a very good relationship with Saudi Arabia. We want to take it to a strategic level,” he told reporters.

Asked when the prime minister could visit the Kingdom, he said that would have to be worked out and the timing could not be determined immediately.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has extended an invitation to  Tarique Rahman to visit the Kingdom.Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir, and Saudi Deputy Ambassador to Bangladesh Ibrahim Abdullah were present at the meeting.
