Bangladesh Railway West Zone GM’s Wife Promoted to Joint Secretary

Ms. Shamsun Nahar Sumi, wife of Farid Ahmed, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), has been promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary from Deputy Secretary.

The promotion was announced through an official notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (July 9).

Along with Ms. Sumi, a total of 178 Deputy Secretaries have been promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary.

According to the relevant promotion rules, an officer becomes eligible for consideration for promotion to Joint Secretary after completing at least five years as a Deputy Secretary and 15 years of service in the respective cadre, or three years as a Deputy Secretary with a total of 20 years of government service.

Ms. Shamsun Nahar Sumi joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration Cadre) through the 25th BCS on August 21, 2006.

She is currently serving with distinction as the Executive Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Trust (Bangladesh) under the Ministry of Social Welfare.

Following the promotion, Farid Ahmed, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), expressed his gratitude and requested prayers and blessings for his wife.

The news of Ms. Sumi’s promotion has been warmly welcomed by officials and employees across various levels of Bangladesh’s railway sector, who extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.
