Md.saifur Rahman:
A proposal has been put forward to transform Bangladesh into an attractive regional business hub by strengthening its industrial base and creating a more business-friendly environment to ensure sustainable economic growth.

The proposal emphasises the need for comprehensive policy reforms aimed at improving the country’s Ease of Doing Business, expanding export diversification, creating employment opportunities, attracting both domestic and foreign investment, and increasing government revenue.

To achieve these objectives, it recommends the formation of a high-powered executive committee or commission comprising economists, industry experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and senior representatives from relevant government ministries and agencies.

According to the proposal, the committee would identify challenges facing Bangladesh’s industrial, commercial, export, revenue, and service sectors and formulate practical, implementation-oriented recommendations. It would also develop sector-specific development strategies based on market demand and investment potential, providing policy guidance to the government.

The proposal states that coordinated policy reforms and effective implementation could position Bangladesh as a competitive business destination in the region. Such initiatives are expected to accelerate industrialisation, boost exports, increase investment, generate employment, and contribute significantly to the country’s long-term economic growth and public welfare.
