Patuakhali, August 5: As part of BNP Chairman and Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s announced nationwide campaign to plant 250 million trees over the next five years, the Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) unit of Chhatra Dal organized a tree plantation program across the university campus.
The initiative was organized with the support of Mahbub Nahid, Assistant Private Secretary to the Honorable Education Adviser and former Joint General Secretary of the PSTU Chhatra Dal. During the program, nearly one hundred saplings were planted at different locations across the campus.
Chhatra Dal leaders and activists planted trees behind the university’s administrative building, in front of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Hall, around the Teachers and Students Centre (TSC), and at several other locations within the campus.
Among those who participated in supervising and implementing the program were Chhatra Dal leaders Abid Rony, Rakibul Islam, Rashed Khan, Sajib Chandra Shil, Adnan Masrur, Azim Hasan Dipu, Amiya Zaman, Fahim Ahmed, Raiyan Khan, Syed Mahmud Nibir, Mohibur Rahman Mubin, along with many other activists.
Following the event, the organizers announced that the tree plantation campaign will continue throughout July, covering every school, college, and madrasa, as well as every union in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali district. They expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to environmental conservation, help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, and support the vision of building a greener Bangladesh.
