Md. Shafayet Hossain:

Mahmudul Hasan Sumon, a well-known businessman in the Dhaka Udyan area of Mohammadpur in the capital and proprietor of Bhola Telecom, has died while undergoing treatment.

He breathed his last at a private hospital in Shyamoli last night, where he had been receiving treatment. His death has cast a shadow of grief over the Dhaka Udyan area.

According to local sources, Mahmudul Hasan Sumon had been running a business named Bhola Telecom on the Dhaka Udyan Main Road for many years. He had also been involved in mobile phone servicing for a long time.

Family members and local sources said that Sumon initially sought treatment at Government Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital after developing a fever. He was later transferred to a private hospital in Shyamoli for better treatment. His condition reportedly deteriorated while he was undergoing treatment there, and he eventually passed away.

Meanwhile, various questions and discussions have emerged locally regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. In particular, questions have been raised about what type of injection or vaccine he may have received during treatment and whether his physical condition changed following its administration.

However, none of these allegations has been independently confirmed so far. It is essential to conduct an impartial investigation to determine whether his death was caused by any medical error, a side effect of medication or injection, or another medical complication.

Efforts are underway to speak with the concerned hospital authorities, physicians and family members to determine the actual cause of Mahmudul Hasan Sumon’s death. Medical records and other relevant information are also being sought for verification.

Journalists are also attempting to contact the owners of Bhola Telecom and members of the deceased’s family for their statements. Comments from the hospital authorities and the physicians involved will be incorporated into a subsequent report if they become available.

Local residents have called for action under the law if an investigation finds evidence of medical negligence or malpractice.

Meanwhile, Sumon’s sudden death has left his family, relatives, colleagues and fellow local businesspeople deeply saddened.

The exact cause of Mahmudul Hasan Sumon’s death—whether it resulted from a medical complication, treatment-related issue, or another cause—can only be established after an impartial investigation and a thorough review of the relevant medical records.
