Haileybury Bhaluka, one of Bangladesh’s leading English-medium educational institutions, has made history by becoming the first school in the country to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program at an international level.
Recently, students from Haileybury Bhaluka took part in a two-day Adventure and Skill Development Camp held in Thailand. As part of the program, they engaged in teamwork, leadership-building, and social awareness activities.
The unique international tour and program were organized by Fusion Holidays Ltd., a Bangladesh-based educational travel and tourism company.
Mr. Masum Uddin, COO of Haileybury Bhaluka, said, “This is a historic moment for our students. Beyond textbooks, we always want our learners to make their mark on international platforms through leadership, skill, and awareness. This journey is a significant step in that direction.”
Mr. Saifur Rahman, a teacher at Haileybury Bhaluka, added, “Experiences like these build students’ confidence, problem-solving abilities, and human empathy. They are thrilled to get this opportunity to prepare themselves for the global stage.”
HM Tariqul Islam, CEO of Fusion Holidays Ltd., remarked, “Our mission has always been to help youth explore new horizons through educational travel. Haileybury Bhaluka’s participation in this global initiative is a proud achievement for us as well.”
A participating student shared, “This experience taught me to take challenges, lead with confidence, and understand the emotions of others. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.”
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognized youth development program that helps young people enhance confidence, leadership, compassion, and practical skills. The program currently operates in over 130 countries worldwide.
While many institutions in Bangladesh have participated in the program locally, this marks the first time a Bangladeshi school has joined such an international activity under the Duke of Edinburgh framework, setting a milestone in the country’s education and youth development journey.
