Staff Reporter: ICT Division Joint Secretary Mohammad Saiful Hasan has formally lodged a strong protest against a report published in an online media outlet, claiming it to be completely false, baseless, motivated and defamatory. He has sent a written protest letter to the editor and publisher of the concerned media outlet, demanding immediate withdrawal of the news item, removal from the online edition and publication of his protest letter with the same importance.
In the protest letter, he mentioned that none of the allegations made against him in the report published online by “Bhorer Bangladesh” on July 29, 2026 is supported by any evidence. According to his statement, no statement was taken from him or his office before publishing the news item, the relevant documents were not verified and the opinions of the concerned officials were not taken.
As a result, he claimed that the news item was published unilaterally in violation of the basic principles of journalism.He also said that a picture used in the report was of a ticket distribution ceremony of a government training program held at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC) in 2024. He alleged that it was collected from his Facebook account and used for other purposes.
He claims that he has always performed his official duties in accordance with government rules and the instructions of the appropriate authorities and has no involvement in corruption, abuse of power or unethical activities.In the detailed reply attached to the protest letter, he has given a separate explanation for each allegation raised in the report. There, he claimed that the performance of additional duties, administrative decisions, project implementation, tender activities, transfers, seminar arrangements, expenditure of government funds and other administrative activities were completed in accordance with the approval of the concerned authorities and prevailing government rules.
He claimed that the allegations of various financial irregularities, commission acceptance, bribery, transfer trading, embezzlement and abuse of power mentioned in the report are completely untrue, fabricated and motivated.In the letter, he further mentioned that the published news has seriously damaged the reputation, personal dignity and social image of his long career.
Therefore, he urged the concerned media to remove the fake news, publish the protest letter and withdraw the defamatory report in the interest of publishing accurate information in the public interest. At the same time, he said that he has the necessary documents and evidence to support his claim and will present them to the court or the relevant authorities if necessary. Otherwise, he will be forced to take legal action as per the prevailing law.
