Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Shahnaz Gazi, paid an official visit to Moldova to assess the country’s growing potential as one of Europe’s emerging labor markets for Bangladeshi workers. The visit focused on evaluating the current employment environment, working conditions, and future opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi migrants.
The Ambassador was accompanied by A.H. Irfan Uddin Ahmed, First Secretary (Labour Welfare) of the Bangladesh Embassy, and Sheikh Koushik Iqbal, Head of Chancery and Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy.
During the visit, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of workplaces and accommodation facilities where Bangladeshi workers are employed. They reviewed working conditions, safety measures, housing standards, and the overall welfare of the workers. The delegation also held discussions with Bangladeshi employees to hear firsthand about their experiences, challenges, and expectations while observing the operations of the respective employers.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador H.E. Shahnaz Gazi emphasized that one of the Government of Bangladesh’s key priorities is to ensure safe, legal, and orderly migration while protecting the rights, dignity, and security of every Bangladeshi working abroad. She urged expatriate workers to comply with local laws, maintain professionalism, honesty, and discipline, and avoid the risks associated with irregular migration.
First Secretary (Labour Welfare) A.H. Irfan Uddin Ahmed engaged in open discussions with the workers, carefully listening to their opinions and experiences. After inspecting their accommodation, food arrangements, workplaces, and other facilities, he expressed satisfaction with the overall conditions and reaffirmed the Bangladesh Embassy’s commitment to providing continued support and assistance to Bangladeshi expatriates.
The recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi workers to Moldova through legal migration channels is currently underway. According to stakeholders, Bangladeshis have earned a positive reputation for their skills, dedication, and work ethic, creating strong prospects for increased demand in Moldova and other European labor markets in the coming years.
Also present during the visit was Dr. Syed Shahjahan, Chairman of Premium Global HR. He stated:
“Creating safe, legal, and dignified international employment opportunities for the people of Bangladesh is our commitment. In line with the Government of Bangladesh’s policy on regular migration, we are actively working to expand access to new labor markets across Europe. With continued cooperation among government agencies, the Bangladesh Embassy, foreign employers, and the private sector, we are optimistic that employment opportunities for up to 100,000 Bangladeshi workers can be created across various European countries within the next year.”
He further added:
“This is not the initiative of any individual or single organization. It is a collective national effort aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s economy, promoting migrant welfare, and supporting the country’s long-term development. Through coordination, transparency, accountability, and mutual cooperation, we believe Bangladesh will continue to strengthen its position in the European labor market.”
The visit was also attended by local officials, Malaysian expatriate S.M. Rahman Parvez, Italy-based expatriate Milon Mia, prominent businessman Saiful Islam Sohag, and businessman Prince Mahmud.
According to those involved, the Ambassador’s visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Moldova in the field of legal, safe, and sustainable labor migration while opening new opportunities for Bangladeshi workers across Europe’s expanding employment market.

The contribution of Bangladeshi migrant workers to national development, employment generation, and foreign remittance earnings remains invaluable. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of promoting legal migration, developing a skilled workforce, and upholding Bangladesh’s reputation for integrity, professionalism, and excellence around the world.
They called upon all stakeholders—including government institutions, Bangladesh missions abroad, recruiting agencies, employers, and expatriate Bangladeshis—to work together in building a migration system that ensures every Bangladeshi worker enjoys safety, fair rights, dignity, and respect.
With sustained collaboration and responsible migration practices, Bangladesh is expected to further strengthen its presence in Europe’s labor market and expand employment opportunities across the globe.
Bangladesh moves forward through the strength of its skilled workforce, while expatriate Bangladeshis continue to serve as the nation’s pride, economic backbone, and respected ambassadors across the world.
