Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi held a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday (August 11).

According to reports, the meeting focused on Bangladesh-India bilateral relations, the recent diplomatic situation, and a range of ongoing issues between the two countries.

Diplomatic sources said Trivedi’s visit to Delhi after assuming charge in Dhaka is being viewed as part of efforts to rebuild and strengthen relations between the two countries. The meeting comes amid initiatives to increase high-level communication following some recent strains in relations between Dhaka and New Delhi.

Earlier, after taking charge as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Trivedi met Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka for the first time on Monday (August 10).

During that meeting, emphasis was reportedly placed on taking bilateral relations forward, strengthening mutual trust, and resolving outstanding issues through dialogue.

Immediately after the meeting, Trivedi left Dhaka for Delhi on Monday afternoon.
