Nepal has made cricketing history by securing a landmark T20I series win over two-time World Champions West Indies. In the second match of the series held in Sharjah, Nepal crushed the Caribbean side by a massive 90-run margin, clinching the series with one game to spare. This marks Nepal’s first-ever bilateral T20I series victory against a Test-playing nation—a moment of immense pride for the Himalayan nation and a moment of deep embarrassment for the former world champions.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal posted a competitive total of 173/6. Star performances came from Aasif Sheikh, who remained unbeaten on 68 off 47 balls, and Sundeep Jora, who smashed 63 off 39 deliveries in a brilliant display of aggressive batting.

In response, the West Indies batting lineup collapsed under pressure from the Nepalese bowling attack. Mohammad Aadil Alam picked up 4 wickets, while Kushal Bhurtel claimed 3 wickets, bundling the Caribbean team out for a mere 83 runs.

Following this historic victory, Nepal’s ambition has soared even higher. Player of the Match Aasif Sheikh and captain Rohit Paudel both expressed their intent to complete a 3-0 whitewash of the West Indies.

“This is a huge achievement for us. We want to finish 3-0. It feels like a festival of cricket in Nepal,” said Aasif Sheikh. “Thanks to all the supporters who came from far and wide. Credit goes to them as well.”

Captain Rohit Paudel added:

“Beating a Test-playing nation is never easy. Winning the series within just two days is special for us. This series was important because we wanted to showcase our game and talent to the world. We’re motivated to make it 3-0, but we must reset and start fresh.”

The third and final T20I will be held tonight at 8:30 PM Bangladesh time. While Nepal eyes a clean sweep, the match is now a battle for pride for the West Indies.
