Special Correspondent:
Expectations are mounting among aspiring leaders ahead of the formation of the next committee of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit, with seven former Chhatra Dal organizers emerging as prominent names in discussions over potential leadership positions.
The aspirants include Robiul Alam Shiblu, Billal Hossain, Nazmul Ahsan Sohel, Sajjadul Hanif, Safiul Alam Prince, Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun and Hachan Chowdhury. All seven have backgrounds in student politics, organizational activities and political movements, and are seeking more prominent roles in the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Robiul Alam Shiblu previously served as organizing secretary of Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal and as a former joint organizing secretary of the central Chhatra Dal under the Rajib-Akram committee. His political journey from college-level student politics to central leadership has given him organizational experience and connections with grassroots activists. He is now aspiring to take on a significant leadership role in Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal.
Billal Hossain, a former acting president of Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal and former joint general secretary of the central Chhatra Dal, also served as member No. 2 of the recently dissolved convening committee of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal. His experience in both the student organization and the youth wing has placed him among the notable contenders for a key position in the upcoming committee.
Safiul Alam Prince, a former joint convener of Government Bangla College Chhatra Dal and former joint secretary of the central Chhatra Dal, has experience in organizational responsibilities at both college and central levels. He is also seeking an opportunity to assume a leadership role in the next Jubo Dal committee.
Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun, a former law affairs secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra Dal and former assistant law affairs secretary of the central Chhatra Dal, has a distinct profile due to his involvement in legal and organizational affairs. He is looking to play a more significant role in the upcoming leadership structure.
Hachan Chowdhury, a former student leader of Government Titumir College and former vice-president of the central Chhatra Dal, is another name among those aspiring to secure an important position in Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal. His experience in student politics and central-level leadership forms part of his organizational background.
The seven aspirants each have their own political identities and leadership experience. Having served at different levels of Chhatra Dal, they now hope to expand their roles within the youth organization.
The allocation of positions in the upcoming committee will ultimately depend on decisions by the party’s central leadership and its assessment of the candidates’ organizational contributions, political experience and leadership capabilities.
As discussions continue over the future leadership of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal, the experience of former student leaders, their involvement in political movements and their organizational skills are likely to remain important considerations.
For now, the seven former Chhatra Dal organizers remain among the names being discussed for significant leadership roles. The final picture will become clear once the new committee is officially announced.
