Md. Rabiul (Antar) has been elected uncontested as the Organizational Secretary of the new executive committee of the Patuakhali Port (Cargo Loading and Unloading) Water Transport Workers’ Union (Reg. No. Khulna-2300).

On July 14, 2026, the final date for withdrawal of candidacies, the Election Steering Committee declared him elected unopposed as there were no other candidates competing for the position. Subsequently, on July 20, 2026, the Department of Labour, Regional Labour Office (Barishal), officially approved and certified this committee by unanimous consent. The tenure of this newly formed executive committee will be for the next 3 (three) years.

Md. Rabiul (Antar) hails from Dhankhali Union under Kalapara Upazila in Patuakhali district. He gained widespread recognition and quickly became popular among the local residents after spearheading movements for the rights of families affected and deprived by the Payra Thermal Power Plant, alongside protesting various rational local issues.

Sharing his reaction after assuming office, the newly elected Organizational Secretary, Md. Rabiul (Antar), stated: “In the past, although genuine workers holding licenses from the Ministry of Labour were supposed to handle the operations, the work was being controlled by an illegal syndicate. I pledge to put an end to these irregularities and syndicates very soon and ensure that genuine workers receive their rightful work and entitlements.”

He further added that he would discharge his duties with utmost dedication to safeguard the organization’s interests, realize the legitimate rights of water transport workers, and bring transparency and dynamism to the union’s overall activities.
